Can You Spare An Abe Lincoln?

I posted awhile back asking for prayer as I begin to navigate the waters of this adoption process. I can feel that some of you must be praying because God is working in some really marvelous ways. He has connected me with friends, locally, experienced in adoption and nationwide, who are currently adopting from the same country, through the same organization and the same placing agency. In the past few days I have watched parents post about it being the "Gotcha Day" for them with photos of their children as they head home. I have prayed for and with other struggling parents, and have encouraged a couple who have been going through the exact initial challenges I have already experienced. It is so great to have brothers and sisters in Christ to hold one another up as we press on to the goal of bringing home the children God has prepared for us.

It is time now to start fundraising. This is the hardest part for me because it always seems hard to ask people for money. Still, I know the Lord works in the hearts of people who want to give to causes like this and that ultimately He owns it all and directs where it all goes.

I have started a puzzle fundraiser today for my little girl. For each piece purchased by a particular donor, I will put that person's name on the back. When the puzzle is completed, I will frame it in double-sided glass for her to see both sides and have a record of the people who loved her so much they wanted to help her get home to her family.

Each puzzle piece is $5. Please let me know if you are interested in contributing. (This is a little like putting the shamrock on the wall for MS at Lowe's only you will get to see where the money goes.) As the puzzle comes together, I will try to post photo progress here.

For those of us who are believers, God calls us to care for widows and orphans:

Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world. (James 1:27 NKJV)

For many, they cannot take in a child for one reason or another. Still, we can all help place in homes at least some of the thousands of orphans in the world. Please consider contributing to help complete this puzzle for less (per person) than the cost of a drive-through lunch! Can you spare an Abe Lincoln (the paper kind) to bring a little girl home?

Praising God already for the warmth and support I've received as this adoption progresses.

  3. Hey there my new, living in the same area friend! I would love to donate to your puzzle, as I want to see this little girl home and playing (perhaps with my little gals). To save you chip in fees I can write you a check, e-mail me your address, or come over for coffee ;). I also want to tell you about a very special day our little league is doing for special needs teams you may be interested in. Hope your travels are going well!!
